CORRIDOR NOTES
Distances and drive times are planning estimates. Exact access, timing and delivery details are confirmed for each address before the move.
The haul from Fresno to Chico runs the length of the northern San Joaquin and Sacramento valleys. Our crew loads in Fresno and heads north on CA-99 through Madera, Merced, Modesto and Stockton, then continues past Sacramento and up through Yuba City into Butte County. It is a roughly 170-mile, three-to-three-and-a-half-hour run on flat valley highway, so most Fresno-to-Chico moves load and deliver inside a single day, with next-day delivery when a late load or a big house pushes the schedule.
Because Murdock’s is an owner-operated carrier and not a broker, the same truck and the same crew that pack your home in Fresno are the ones who carry it up CA-99 and unload it in Chico. We run the route on our own USDOT 3421940 and CPUC authority, so your belongings are never handed off to a stranger's van line or transferred to a warehouse along the way. One flat-rate price, one inventory, one crew from your Fresno driveway to your new Chico address.

DESTINATION BRIEF
Chico is Northern California's classic college town, built around Chico State and the enormous, spring-fed Bidwell Park that threads Big Chico Creek right through the middle of the city. After a Fresno move, people are struck by how walkable and green the core is: a compact downtown of brick storefronts, farmers markets and taprooms, tree-shaded neighborhoods, and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada rising just east of town toward Paradise and the Lassen country.
Most Fresno families landing in Chico settle into The Avenues and the older grid streets near downtown and the university, the newer subdivisions out toward Amber Grove and California Park, or the quieter foothill edges in east Chico. The wider Butte County community has rebuilt steadily since the 2018 Camp Fire, and housing here still stretches a Fresno budget further than Sacramento or the Bay would. A typical move drops into a single-family home or a bungalow near campus, and our crew handles the tighter older streets and mature-tree lots that come with Chico's established neighborhoods.
Day to day, Chico trades Fresno's big-city sprawl for a slower, bike-friendly pace: tubing and swimming holes in Bidwell Park, Sierra Nevada Brewing, the Thursday Night Market downtown, and easy weekend access to Lassen Volcanic National Park and Lake Almanor.
