CORRIDOR NOTES

What This Route Changes.

Distances and drive times are planning estimates. Exact access, timing and delivery details are confirmed for each address before the move.

Minneapolis to Sacramento is a coast-to-valley haul that Murdock’s runs on a single truck with one dedicated crew - the same movers load you in the Twin Cities and unload you in the capital, with no broker in between and no swapping your household onto a stranger's trailer. We head south on I-35 to Des Moines, then follow I-80 west virtually the entire route: across Iowa and Nebraska, over Wyoming's high plains, through Salt Lake City, and down the Sierra past Reno before I-80 delivers us right into the Sacramento metro. As an owner-operated carrier on our own USDOT and CPUC authority, we stay accountable for your shipment start to finish.

Plan on roughly a 28 to 29 hour drive folded into a 4 to 6 day delivery window - federal hours-of-service rules and the mountain crossing set the pace more than the mileage alone. We lock in a firm delivery spread before we load and keep you posted as we cross the country. Your entire Minneapolis-to-Sacramento move is quoted flat-rate from a written inventory, so the price you approve is the price that stands whether we're delivering to a Midtown bungalow, a downtown condo, or a home out in the suburbs.

DESTINATION BRIEF

Arriving in Sacramento.

  • Leaving long, harsh Minnesota winters for a sunny, mild Mediterranean valley climate
  • The deepest job market in the region - state government, healthcare, tech and logistics
  • Far cheaper than the Bay Area while keeping San Francisco and Silicon Valley within reach
  • Big-city amenities, dining and an international airport without coastal-California prices
  • Rivers, the American River Parkway, the Delta, and Lake Tahoe day trips close at hand

Sacramento is California's capital and the anchor of a fast-growing metro that has absorbed a wave of transplants trading big-city costs for a more livable base. It's an unabashedly urban option compared to Chico or Yuba City: the leafy grid of Midtown and East Sacramento with their craftsman homes and walkable restaurant blocks, the high-rises and government offices downtown, and the confluence of the Sacramento and American Rivers threading a huge parkway and Delta waterways through the region.

Much of the recent growth is Bay Area overflow - people priced out of San Francisco and Silicon Valley who can still reach those job markets while paying far less to live. That makes Sacramento pricier than Chico or Yuba City, but it remains a bargain against coastal California and offers the deepest job market of the three, spanning state government, healthcare, tech and logistics. Newcomers cluster in Midtown and East Sacramento, the family suburbs of Elk Grove, Roseville, Folsom and Natomas, and river-close pockets like Land Park and Curtis Park.

A Sacramento delivery can range from an easy suburban driveway to a tighter downtown or Midtown street with parking to coordinate - either way our crew scouts access ahead of time and handles the reassembly so your Minneapolis household is set up the day we arrive.
