CORRIDOR NOTES
Distances and drive times are planning estimates. Exact access, timing and delivery details are confirmed for each address before the move.
Moving from Phoenix to Chico is a long-distance haul that Murdock’s Moving carries on our own USDOT authority from the first box to the last. We own the trucks and employ the crews, so we are a carrier rather than a broker. The team that pads and loads your furniture in Phoenix is the same team that carries it up your walk in Chico. Your belongings stay on one truck the entire way, with no warehouse transfer and no reselling of your load to an outside driver.
The route leaves metro Phoenix on I-10 West across the low desert to the Los Angeles basin, then turns north on I-5 and the CA-99 corridor up the length of the Central Valley. From Sacramento the last leg runs north to Chico in Butte County, about 845 miles and 12 to 13 hours of driving all told. We schedule it as a two to three day move so the crew arrives rested and unloads with care. Pricing is flat-rate and settled before we leave Arizona, so there is no dollar figure hiding in the paperwork and no add-on when we arrive.

DESTINATION BRIEF
Chico is a college town at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, built around the tree-shaded campus of Chico State and the enormous Bidwell Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the country. For someone coming from the sprawl and heat of Phoenix, the appeal is a walkable, bike-friendly downtown, a slower pace, and the Sierra Nevada foothills rising just to the east. It is a place where you can bike to a farmers market, hike Upper Park by afternoon, and still find housing that costs a fraction of coastal California.
Neighborhoods here range from the historic bungalows of the Avenues and the walkable core near downtown to newer subdivisions in California Park and out toward east Chico. Many streets are lined with mature valley oaks and have tight driveways, so our crew scouts truck access and parking ahead of move day. The town also absorbed a wave of newcomers after the 2018 Camp Fire in nearby Paradise, and the housing market and community have been rebuilding and growing since, which shapes what is available when you arrive.
A move to Chico usually means trading a big-city commute for a small-city rhythm. It is a genuinely different life from Phoenix, closer to the mountains, the Feather River canyon, and Lassen country, and we handle the eight-hundred-mile logistics so you can settle in.
