The run from Redding down to Chico is one of the shortest long-distance moves we handle, but we treat it with the same care as a cross-country haul. Your crew loads in Redding and points the truck south on I-5, dropping down the top of the Sacramento Valley through Anderson, Cottonwood and Red Bluff before cutting east on CA-99 or CA-32 into Chico. It is barely 70 miles and an hour or so behind the wheel, which means most households load and deliver the same day with no overnight storage in between.

The heart of the city is anchored by Bidwell Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the country, whose swimming holes, trails and shaded picnic spots run for miles right up into the foothills.

Newcomers tend to land in a handful of distinct areas. The Avenues and the neighborhoods around Mansion Park offer classic older homes within walking distance of campus and downtown, while California Park is built around a small lake on the east side and draws families wanting newer construction and good schools. Meriam Park and the Doe Mill area are the newest walkable developments, and Canyon Oaks sits up against the foothills for buyers who want a little more room and a golf-course setting.

Chico has spent recent years absorbing neighbors displaced by the Camp Fire in nearby Paradise, so the housing market moves quickly and inventory can be tight. It helps to have your move locked in on a firm date.
